Love, Tanya – a little review

Now, I’m going to be honest with you and say that I never would’ve thought that a book written by a YouTuber could be something of interest for me.

I absolutely love watching YouTubers – especially the Brits! – but for some reason a book never seemed like the right thing for them to publish. Beauty products, yes – merchandise, okay yes – but a proper book? Nah, not for me, thanks.

However, over the last weeks, Tanya Burr – who, if you don’t know her, runs a very successful YouTube channel, a blog, and has a beauty range of her own consisting of nail polishes, lip glosses and false lashes so far – has shared little snippets of her book “Love, Tanya” on Twitter and Instagram and I have to say, I was fairly intrigued.

So I thought to myself, “why not?” and went ahead & bought it. And oh, luckily I did!

“Love, Tanya” is an all round-feel good-book which is a bit like having a couple of short books put into one, covering topics from life, love, beauty and baking. Every chapter is beautifully written and not only does Tanya give us insights into her private photo albums (with lovely photos from her childhood & teens as well as some photos you might’ve seen on her Instagram or Twitter) but the professional shoots to accompany each new chapter are just GORGEOUS!

The topics are so relatable and especially the beauty bits about skincare, makeup, hair and nails are so useful. In her chapters about growing up, love, life and confidence & happiness, it’s almost an autobiography in which she lets you get to know her much more personally. And of course, a couple of baking recipes are thrown in for good measure, too! It also gets almost interactive as at the end of every chapter, there are a few pages on which you can scribble your own thoughts and ideas down.

Weirdly, this book makes me feel quite proud of Tanya for achieving everything she has so far, and it was a pleasure to get to know her a little better. This book is certainly easy to read (it took me less than a day!) and probably of most interest for those who have followed her for a while.
