About a month ago, I published a post called ‘5 things that have recently made me happy’. I really enjoyed collecting positive aspects of my life and thought I would turn this into a monthly series! So, without further ado, here are five things that have recently made me happy.
Baking. I’d had a rubbish day and decided to cheer myself up with some baking. It relaxes me a lot and I just love creating little baked goods. I made my coffee and walnut cupcakes, except that I substituted walnuts for some vanilla, and even though I wasn’t entirely happy with the icing, I really enjoyed the process and tucking into a homemade cupcake with an overflowing mug of hot chocolate.
My new bookcase. As you probably know by now, books are my passion. I love reading and I was desperate to finally have a place where I could store all of my most loved ones. Now that I’ve finally got one, it makes me really happy every time I look at it!
Christmas planning. Last week I sat down with a cup of coffee, some chocolate Digestives, listening to Michael Buble’s Christmas album and brainstorming ideas for Christmas presents. I absolutely love this time of year, coming up with gift ideas and thinking about what will make my nearest and dearest the happiest this year!
Nice cups of tea. In an effort to improve my sleep quality (more on that in a future blog post), I have been taking more time for the little things in life. One of them is to actually take the time to let my tea steep properly and drink it out of my favourite mugs. And what can I say, ending my day with a lovely cuppa is just the best!
Deep chats with friends. I spend most of my time sitting in a metaphorical castle, with very high walls around me. I’m not very good in letting people too close but recently, I have been talking to one of my really good friends about a couple of topics which I had kept to myself for a long time. Saying them out loud made them a lot more real and did sent me into a bit of a low but at the same time, it was nice to be heard, understood and supported.
’til next time x
