I am incredibly late on the Netflix bandwagon. I’ve only created my account in mid-February and I just cannot believe what I’ve been missing out on! So without further ado, let’s look at what I’ve been loving:
13 Reasons Why.
Widely discussed and equally loved and criticised, I watched the entire season within one weekend. Although I do agree that it is incredibly graphic and potentially triggering in places, I think it is very important to address topics like bullying, rape and suicidal risk – and sometimes, messages get across much better when they’re put bluntly. I thought it was fantastic and very well made.
The First Time.
One of the cutest films I’ve ever seen. It’s about teenagers Dan and Aubrey who experience the insecurities, butterflies, confusion and euphoria that a first love brings. Perfect for a Saturday night in with girlfriends or on your own!
Essentially a mix of Twilight and Pretty Little Liars, Riverdale is so easy to watch. Gripping but at the same time not too difficult to digest – also, can we appreciate Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones for a moment? <3
10 Things I Hate About You.
A classic. I still swoon over Heath Ledger as Patrick Verona and how adorable he is with Julia Stiles. Another one for your girls nights in or, you know, your Single Gal with Ben & Jerry’s Cookie Dough nights.
I’m only a few episodes in but I quite enjoy it so far. The main character is the same lady that plays Aubrey in The First Time and I really like her. With 30 minutes per episode, it’s really easy to watch ‘in between’ or to catch up on an episode after a long day at work.
Oh, Netflix. I love you.
’til next time x
